By creating an account, accessing, or using CrossWays (“the Service”), you enter into a binding legal agreement with the Data Controller listed in Section 14. You agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and acknowledge our separate Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not download, install, or use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use CrossWays. By registering, you warrant and represent that you are 18 years of age or older and possess the legal capacity to enter into this binding contract under the laws of your country of residence.
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree not to share your account or credentials with anyone else. If you suspect or become aware of any unauthorized use of your account, you must notify us immediately via the Help or Support section in the app.
CrossWays is designed to help users connect based on shared historical locations. You are solely responsible for any content, text, or location posts you submit. You strictly agree not to:
CrossWays does not track your device's geographical location in real-time or in the background via GPS. The Service relies entirely on historical location information that you voluntarily enter and submit (e.g., past visits or check-ins). You acknowledge and agree that:
You retain all ownership rights to the content and historical posts you submit to CrossWays. By posting content, you grant CrossWays a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid, and sublicensable license to host, store, display, and process your content solely for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and improving the Service.
To ensure a safe environment, CrossWays enforces strict policies regarding user conduct:
CrossWays facilitates potential connections based on shared historical timelines but does not guarantee matches, accurate responses, or the behavioral outcome of any connection. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, both online and offline. You agree to exercise extreme caution and follow personal safety best practices when arranging to meet anyone encountered through the Service.
We process your personal data, including the historical locations you submit, in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the Norwegian Personal Data Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please review our Privacy Policy to understand what data we collect, how it is used, and how you can exercise your data protection rights.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CrossWays and its operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or death/personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded under consumer protection laws.
You may delete your account at any time through the Profile settings page in the app. Upon account deletion, your personal data and historical posts will be handled and permanently purged in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service, technical infrastructure, or legal obligations. We will notify you of any material changes at least 30 days before they take effect via an in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the app after the 30-day period signifies your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must delete your account before they take effect.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway. If you are a consumer residing within the European Union, European Economic Area (EEA), or any other jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, you retain the protection of the mandatory statutory provisions of your country of residence. Any disputes arising under these terms may be brought before the competent courts of Norway, or before the competent courts of your country of residence if mandatory consumer laws permit.
